I recently got an offer from a big tech company.
During the process I came across two things I didn’t expect:
-
My contract would have been a fixed-term contract. The job was officially from the company, but a service provider would have taken over the contract. I learned from my network that this is not uncommon and from first-hand experience, as well as internet research, that the number of temps at some Big Tech companies is greater than 50%!
-
The salary: I always thought working for a big tech company would be the holy grail for an employee. I must have been wrong. The offer was at most market standard, I would rather say below.
I don’t doubt that there are many people who make a lot of money at big tech companies, but I doubt if that is the rule…
What do you think about this? What are your experiences
