The last few months have been challenging for me and I have really pushed myself to the limit.
I’ve been very focused on the future: “When I get the title, I’ll be happy”, “When I win the customer, I’ll be happy”, etc.
I’m never really satisfied permanently when I reach a goal. I’m happy for a moment and then I wonder what the next goal is.
That’s gotten me a long way, but the point of life for me is not to build the perfect resume and collect awards.
“Enjoy the Journey” is written in big letters on a whiteboard above my desk, or in other words, “the journey is the destination”.
Maybe you know the book “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. What I took away from it is that there is only the moment. You can’t influence the past in the here and now, and you can’t influence the future. There is only the moment.
Of course I want to continue dreaming and setting ambitious goals, but I want to enjoy the journey more.
Naval Ravikant said, "Happiness is a choice you make and a skill you develop.
I think this is true. When I meditate regularly, I notice how my perception changes.
I probably won’t always succeed, but in the future I want to be more optimistic, especially in stressful situations.
Love it, leave it or change it! Life is too short for unhappiness.
